Australia chased down the 241 run target with ease in the end after some early wobble. The Aussies beat India by six wickets with Glenn Maxwell hitting the winning runs. AP
In the process, India’s drought in ICC competitions continued and has now stretched to 10 years. The last time India won an ICC tournament, MS Dhoni was the captain and Men in Blue had won the 2013 Champions Trophy. AP

IND vs AUS toss
Earlier, Australia won the toss during the Cricket World Cup final against India and decided to field at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. AP
India posted just 240 runs after being put into bat on a slow pitch. Australia fielded brilliantly to keep the brakes on India’s batting while maintaining their discipline with the ball. AP
Rohit Sharma gave India a powerful start with 47 runs from 31 balls striking four boundaries and three sixes. But his stay was halted by Glenn Maxwell with Travis Head taking an exceptional catch. AP
Pat Cummins stunned the Ahmedabad crowd and brought pin drop silence with the wicket of Virat Kohli. He ended with 2/34 from his 10 overs. AP
KL Rahul played a patient knock of 66 runs from 107 balls with just one boundary in it. With the team needing a batter to prolong their stay in the middle, KL Rahul did just that. AP
But KL Rahul was dismissed by Mitchell Starc with Josh Inglis completing the catch. His exit from the middle saw India reduced to 203/6 and only Suryakumar Yadav remained the designated batter to ensure a battling total. AP
Josh Hazlewood sent Suryakumar Yadav packing on 18 runs with the freewheeling batter struggling against Australia’s varied bowling attack. Hazlewood took two wickets from his 10 overs while going for 60 runs. AP
Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers with 3/55 from 10 overs. He sent Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami back to the dug out. AP
Chasing 241 runs, Australia started poorly with David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith walking back without helping the cause much. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India with two wickets. AP
Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head salvaged the situation for Australia with a 191 run partnership. AP
Travis Head struck a century in the Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad. He slammed 137 runs from 120 balls but perished while attempting to hit the winning runs. AP
