The duo was accompanied by batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip while inspecting the pitch.
Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathour had a quick look at the pitch, and the two, along with Rohit Sharma were involved in a discussion.
On Friday, the Men in Blue held an optional practice session in Ahmedabad, where Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja all undertook some batting practice.
Rohit Sharma did some shadow batting practice, even practicing the pull shot, before joining in for some batting practice. When Rohit put on his batting gear and started some batting practice, Rahul and Jadeja were done with their hits whereas Kishan was still batting.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who last played for India during the World Cup group stage match against Australia on 8 October, was involved in some bowling practice, and so did Prasidh Krishna.
Ashwin also had a close look at the pitch and had a discussion with the pitch curator too.
India are coming off a 70-run win over New Zealand in the semi-finals, with Virat Kohli (117), Shreyas Iyer (105) and Mohammed Shami (7/57) playing big roles in the win.
Australia, meanwhile, had to sweat it out before overcoming South Africa by three wickets, while chasing down 213.
India’s last World Cup triumph came back in 2011 when they had lifted the trophy on home soil. The Men in Blue will also be keen to break the 10-year ICC trophy drought, having last won a major ICC trophy in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England.
