The Delhi and Rajasthan players didn't shake hands at the end of the game — though this could be due to the emergence of multiple COVID-19 cases in the Delhi camp than animosity between the two sides over the umpire's decision to not signal a no ball in the third delivery of the final over. Rajasthan jump to the top of the points table with this victory, while Delhi can take pride in the fight that they showed till the very end in this game. Jos Buttler, meanwhile, bags the Player of the Match award for his scintillating 116 off just 65 deliveries!

That brings us to the end of our coverage of Match 34 of IPL 2022. This is Amit signing off, bidding you all a good night!

23:41 (IST)

Rishabh Pant: "I thought we could’ve checked the no-ball. Disappointed, but not much we could’ve done. Everyone in the ground saw that. I think third umpire should’ve interfered, but I don’t think I can change the rules. (On a DC official walking out to the centre) Obviously it wasn’t right, but what happened with us wasn’t right either. Obviously it hurts when you get so close."

23:40 (IST)

After 20 overs,Delhi Capitals 207/8 ( Kuldeep Yadav 0 , )

Superb comeback by Obed McCoy after getting smacked for three sixes by Rovman Powell in the first three balls. Follows up the hat-trick of maximums with a dot, as Powell swings his bat and misses. Collects a brace off the fifth, before getting dismissed for 36 in the last delivery. Rajasthan win by 15 runs, and jump to the top of the IPL 2022 points table.

23:34 (IST)

19.6: OUT! Powell ends up skieing the ball high in the night sky! Samson settles under the ball and ends up completing a fine catch, as Rajasthan Royals win by 15 runs to go to the top of the IPL 2022 points table!

19.4: DOT!  Swing of the bat, and this time Powell fails to connect with the ball. DC 205/7

23:31 (IST)

Play held up for a bit as DC assistant coach Pravin Amre rushes out to the centre, arguing with the umpires over the height of the third delivery. That could lead to Delhi losing momentum in the process.

23:29 (IST)

19.3: SIX! Powell clears his front leg and clobbers the ball into the stands beyond the midwicket fence! DC 205/7; need 18 off 3

23:29 (IST)

23:28 (IST)

23:28 (IST)

Obed McCoy to bowl the final over.

23:25 (IST)

After 19 overs,Delhi Capitals 187/7 ( Rovman Powell 16 , Kuldeep Yadav 0)

Prasidh Krishna bowls the crucial penultimate over. Starts off with consecutive dots. An under-pressure Lalit goes for a wild swing in the next ball, and ends up getting an audible nick off the toe end to get caught-behind for 37. One Yadav replaces another as Kuldeep walks in to replace Lalit. Krishna then bowls out three more dots to bowl out a wicket maiden!

23:21 (IST)

OUT! This is some unreal death bowling from Prasidh Krishna! Bowls another full, wide delivery, and this time Lalit ends up getting a nick off the toe end of the bat that results in a simple catch for keeper Samson. Third wicket for Krishna this evening! DC 187/7

L Yadav c Samson b Krishna 37(24)

23:17 (IST)

After 18 overs,Delhi Capitals 187/6 ( Lalit Yadav 37 , Rovman Powell 16)

Boult into his final over. Starts off with a dot, followed by a single off each of the next two. Wide conceded off the fourth. Powell then sends out a warning to the Rajasthan attack with a superbly-timed pull over the wide long on fence for a maximum. Swing and miss in the fifth. Powell ends the over with another monster of a hit, this time clearing the long off boundary. 15 from the over. Delhi need another 36 to win from 12.

23:11 (IST)

After 17 overs,Delhi Capitals 172/6 ( Lalit Yadav 36 , Rovman Powell 3)

Lalit keeps Delhi’s hopes alive with his clean hitting as he gets down one one knee and slog-sweeps the ball into the stands beyond deep midwicket off Chahal. 10 off the leg-spinner’s final over of the evening, with Delhi needing another 51 from their last three overs.

23:08 (IST)

After 16 overs,Delhi Capitals 162/6 ( Lalit Yadav 29 , Rovman Powell 1)

SIX! Thakur rocks back and pulls a short ball from Boult behind square in the second delivery to collect his first maximum. The all-rounder though, departs in the next delivery while pushing for a risky second run. Rovman Powell, the hard-hitting West Indian who hasn’t been in great form lately, walks in next and gets off the mark with a single right away. Lalit collects a four in the penultimate delivery. 13 runs and a wicket from the over. DC need another 61 off 24.

23:03 (IST)

OUT! Thakur falls short of the striker's end while pushing for a risky second run, as Delhi lose their sixth! Rajasthan get the wicket thanks mainly to Parag's accurate throw from deep midwicket. Samson whipped the bails off in a flash, and was instantly celebrating, confident of the dismissal. DC 157/6

22:59 (IST)

After 15 overs,Delhi Capitals 149/5 ( Lalit Yadav 24 , Shardul Thakur 3)

10 off Chahal’s third over of the evening, including a first maximum of the day to Lalit Yadav as he slog-sweeps a full toss from the leggie into the stands in the second delivery. Another five overs to go, Delhi need 74 off 30. Lalit, batting on 24 off 15, is their main hope now.

22:55 (IST)

After 14 overs,Delhi Capitals 139/5 ( Lalit Yadav 15 , Shardul Thakur 2)

Single off each of the first four deliveries of Ashwin’s final over, before Lalit Yadav ends the over with back-to-back hits to the fence. 12 off the over, as Ashwin signs off with 2/32 from his quota. Delhi need another 84 off 36.

22:53 (IST)

After 13 overs,Delhi Capitals 127/5 ( Lalit Yadav 5 , )

Another quality over for the Royals, with Chahal getting rid of Axar in this over. Delhi have now lost two wickets for just three runs, their hopes of pulling off a victory quickly fading away.

22:52 (IST)

BOWLED! Chahal gets rid of Axar, breaching the southpaw's defence after the batter gets down on one knee and goes for a wild swing of the bat, hoping to smash the ball towards the midwicket region. Delhi have lost half their side now with nearly a 100 runs still left to be chased, and a victory looks near-impossible now. DC 127/5

Patel b Chahal 1(4)

22:49 (IST)

After 12 overs,Delhi Capitals 124/4 ( Lalit Yadav 3 , Axar Patel 0)

Prasidh returns. DROPPED! Chahal puts down a chance at fine leg after a thick top-edge off Pant’s bat in the second delivery. Luckily for the Royals, the spilled chance doesn’t cost them much as Pant skies the ball again two balls later, this time Padikkal settling undertone ball and pulling off a superb catch. Just three runs and a wicket from what could be a match-defining over.

22:47 (IST)

OUT! Pant skies the ball high in the air, the ball almost disappearing in the black night sky. Devdutt Padikkal settles under the ball and pulls off a brilliant catch in the end! Huge blow to Delhi's hopes as their captain departs after a quickfire 44. DC 124/4

Pant c Padikkal b Krishna 44(24)

22:42 (IST)

After 11 overs,Delhi Capitals 121/3 ( Rishabh Pant (C) (W) 43 , Lalit Yadav 1)

Rough start for Riyan Parag after being brought in place of McCoy, as he concedes 22 in his first over. Pant smashes two mighty sixes, one of which is his trademark one-handed slog, along with a four in the penultimate delivery. A wide conceded in the final delivery, followed by a brace. 22 from the over, one that brings Delhi back in the hunt.

22:35 (IST)

After 10 overs,Delhi Capitals 99/3 ( Rishabh Pant (C) (W) 24 , Lalit Yadav 0)

Excellent over from Ashwin, one in which he builds up pressure by allowing Pant and Shaw just four singles in five deliveries, which brings up the fifty stand between the third-wicket pair. Shaw then decides to take a risk in the final delivery, and ends up holing out to Boult at deep extra cover. Advantage Rajasthan at the halfway stage of the Delhi chase.

22:34 (IST)

OUT! Ashwin breaks the third-wicket stand right after it crosses the fifty-mark! Shaw looks to heave this over the extra cover, but doesn't get enough power on the shot to clear the fence. Boult is stationed in front of the boundary in that direction and grabs a sitter. DC 99/3

Shaw c Boult b Ashwin 37(27)

22:32 (IST)

FIFTY partnership comes up between Shaw and Pant for the third wicket, the former bringing up the milestone with a single. DC 98/2

22:27 (IST)

Strategic timeout signalled by the umpire after the nightmare of an over from McCoy.

22:25 (IST)

After 9 overs,Delhi Capitals 95/2 ( Prithvi Shaw 35 , Rishabh Pant (C) (W) 22)

FOUR! Shaw rocks back and smashes the short-of-length ball from McCoy towards the cow corner fence. Shaw then follows it up with an outrageous one-handed six (perhaps inspired by his batting partner). McCoy follows it up with a terrible delivery — full toss well above waist height that beats both the batter and the keeper for five wides. McCoy bowls back-to-back wides, before restricting Shaw to a single in the free hit. Pant makes things even worse for the West Indian with back-to-back fours, the second one landing between two fielders at wide long on. Dot off the last ball. 26 runs from the over!

22:15 (IST)

After 8 overs,Delhi Capitals 69/2 ( Prithvi Shaw 24 , Rishabh Pant (C) (W) 14)

Shaw and Pant keep the scoreboard ticking with the ones and twos, with eight coming off Ashwin’s second over of the evening, including a brace off the first delivery and two wides in the penultimate ball.

22:13 (IST)

After 7 overs,Delhi Capitals 60/2 ( Prithvi Shaw 22 , Rishabh Pant (C) (W) 9)

Yuzvendra Chahal introduced right after the end of the powerplay. He starts off on a tidy note with a single coming off each delivery barring the second, which goes for a dot.

22:10 (IST)

After 6 overs,Delhi Capitals 55/2 ( Prithvi Shaw 20 , Rishabh Pant (C) (W) 6)

Ashwin strikes off his first ball of the evening, as Sarfaraz Khan departs not too long after arriving at the crease, hitting the ball straight to Krishna at square leg off a sweep. Pant walks in next and gets off the mark with a boundary, flicking a short-of-length ball through the midwicket region. Single off each of the last three deliveries. Seven runs and a wicket from the over. Delhi collect 55 in the powerplay.

22:06 (IST)

OUT! Ravichandran Ashwin strikes off his first ball of the evening! Sarfaraz goes for a sweep, and serves up the simplest of catches to Krishna standing at square leg. DC 48/2

Khan c Krishna b Ashwin 1(3)

22:04 (IST)

After 5 overs,Delhi Capitals 48/1 ( Prithvi Shaw 19 , Sarfaraz Khan 1)

Warner starts the over with consecutive fours, getting an under-edge in the first delivery that beats the keeper, followed by a solid pull down the ground past mid on in the second delivery. Prasidh gets him caught-behind in the third delivery, cramping him for room with a clever change in angle. New batter Sarfaraz Khan gets off the mark with a single in the penultimate ball, before Shaw ends the over with a boundary. 13 runs and a wicket from the over.

22:02 (IST)

OUT! Excellent comeback by Krishna after getting hit for consecutive boundaries as he gets Warner caught-behind to break the opening stand. Warner shuffled to his left and was making room for an expansive pull, but Prasidh altered his line to cramp him for room, and ultimately got a deflection off the edge. DC 43/1

Warner c Samson b Krishna 28(14)

21:57 (IST)

After 4 overs,Delhi Capitals 35/0 ( Prithvi Shaw 15 , David Warner 20)

Obed McCoy introduced in the fourth over. Lovely use of the wrists by Shaw in the second delivery as he works a short-of-length ball through the midwicket region for his third four. Warner helps himself to another boundary, slashing the penultimate delivery behind point. The Aussie keeps the strike with a single off the last ball.

21:52 (IST)

After 3 overs,Delhi Capitals 25/0 ( Prithvi Shaw 10 , David Warner 15)

Single to Shaw at the start of Boult’s second over. Warner then collects a four in the third ball, flicking through the square leg region, before collecting the first maximum of the innings in the last ball, slashing the ball towards the third man fence.

21:50 (IST)

After 2 overs,Delhi Capitals 14/0 ( Prithvi Shaw 9 , David Warner 5)

Prasidh Krishna bowls from the other end. FOUR! Warner gets off the mark with a boundary, getting down on one knee and heaving a full, wide delivery over extra cover! Excellent comeback by Prasidh though, as he concedes just two singles in the next five deliveries. Six from the over.

21:42 (IST)

After 1 over,Delhi Capitals 8/0 ( Prithvi Shaw 8 , David Warner 0)

The Delhi innings gets off to a promising start with back-to-back hits to the fence by Shaw off Boult, though the Kiwi seamer keeps things tight for the remainder of the over with four consecutive dots. Eight from the over.

21:41 (IST)

Trent Boult to start off with the ball in hand as Prithvi Shaw and David Warner walk out to begin Delhi's chase of the challenging 223-run target. Certainly not impossible, but will need a tremendous start from the in-form openers if they are to chase this down.

21:29 (IST)

21:28 (IST)

Just one short of VK's legendary feat now!

21:24 (IST)

After 20 overs,Rajasthan Royals 222/2 ( Sanju Samson (C) (W) 46 , Shimron Hetmyer 1)

Thakur returning for the first time since the powerplay, starts off with a wide, with Samson collecting a brace and a four off the next two. Another wide off the third, followed by a couple of singles. Thick outside edge off Samson’s bat in the penultimate delivery results in the ball going all the way to the third man fence for a four. Thakur bowls a juicy full toss to Samson in the last delivery and the RR captain promptly smacks it over the square leg fence to end the innings with a maximum.

Rajasthan set Delhi a humongous 223 to win after being asked to bat!

21:19 (IST)

After 19 overs,Rajasthan Royals 202/2 ( Sanju Samson (C) (W) 29 , Shimron Hetmyer 0)

Buttler starts off with a four and a six off consecutive balls — sweeping Mustafizur behind square before just about clearing the man at long off. Fizz does well to restrict Buttler and Samson to just a single off the next two. Excellent piece of fielding by Powell at the straight boundary to save a couple of runs for the Capitals. Fizz finally gets Buttler in the last ball as the latter holes out to Warner at long on to depart for 116.

21:19 (IST)

OUT! Buttler's magnificent knock FINALLY comes to an end as he holes out to David Warner at long on while looking for his tenth maximum of the innings. Mustafizur with the breakthrough, collecting just the second wicket of the innings. RR 202/2

Buttler c Warner b Mustafizur 116(65)

21:09 (IST)

After 18 overs,Rajasthan Royals 188/1 ( Jos Buttler 103 , Sanju Samson (C) (W) 28)

OUCH! Samson looks to play a ramp towards the third man region, but instead ends up top-edging the ball onto his throat, the ball narrowly missing the grille of his helmet. He needs a quick look from the physio before continuing with his innings. The RR skipper looks unfazed from the blow as he collects a four and a huge six off the next two balls. An under-pressure Khaleel bowls a wide outside off in the fourth delivery. Another four and a six off consecutive deliveries for Samson, targetting the off side on both occasions. The misery concludes with Khaleel dropping a sitter off his own bowling. 21 runs and dropped catch off Khaleel’s final over of the evening as he signs off with 1/47.

21:03 (IST)

After 17 overs,Rajasthan Royals 167/1 ( Jos Buttler 103 , Sanju Samson (C) (W) 8)

The Fizz into his third over of the evening. Keeps things fairly tidy in the over barring the third delivery, in which skipper Samson goes for a ramp that sends the ball towards the third man fence. Nine from the over. Rajasthan on course for a total in excess of 200.

20:59 (IST)

After 16 overs,Rajasthan Royals 158/1 ( Jos Buttler 101 , Sanju Samson (C) (W) 1)

Outstanding over from Khaleel with just three runs coming off it along with the wicket of Padikkal that breaks the marathon 155-run opening stand. But the focus is firmly on Jos Buttler, who collects a brace in the penultimate delivery to bring up his third century of the season!

20:57 (IST)

What an incredible turnaround by Jos the Boss!
