After 3 overs,India 29/0 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 14 , Ishan Kishan 14)

Boult continues to bleed runs in the powerplay. Rohit connects to a back-of-length ball in the second delivery, timing his short-arm pull beautifully to send the ball flying over the fine leg fence for the first maximum of the innings. Kishan then flicks the ball towards the midwicket fence two balls later to collect his third four. 11 from the over.

After 2 overs,India 18/0 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 8 , Ishan Kishan 10)

Adam Milne from the other end as the mini-battle between the Mumbai Indians teammates continues. Ishan Kishan too gets off the mark with a four, throwing his bat at a full, wide delivery and getting a thick edge that steers it towards the third man fence. The southpaw then grabs a brace four balls later with a slice over the cover region. Streaky boundary to end the over as Kishan edges the ball just wide of the diving second slip. 10 from the over.

After 1 over,India 8/0 ( Rohit Sharma (C) 8 , Ishan Kishan 0)

LBW shout against Rohit in the first delivery of the innings. Boult gets the ball to shape back in, hitting Rohit high on the pad with the umpire subsequently shaking his head. Looked high to the naked eye, and the Kiwis decide against going for the review. Meanwhile, plenty of dew here at the Eden and Boult’s already making ample use of the sawdust. It does get dark early in the eastern part of the country after all. Rohit, meanwhile, gets going with back-to-back boundaries off his MI teammate.

19:01 (IST)

Trent Boult to start things for the Black Caps, with Rohit Sharma opening the innings alongside Ishan Kishan, who replaces KL Rahul in the lineup today. It's a Mumbai Indians trio that will kick off the proceedings today.

Teams:

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Venkatesh Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal

New Zealand: Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert (wk), James Neesham, Mitchell Santner (c), Adam Milne, Lockie Ferguson, Ish Sodhi, Trent Boult

18:34 (IST)

Mitchell Santner, stand-in New Zealand captain: There’s been dew throughout, so we’ve got to do well regardless. We’ve lost a couple of phases, especially in the middle. The way the Indian openers came out and were pretty hard to stop. Tim not playing is the only change.

18:34 (IST)

Rohit Sharma, India captain: The wicket is a bit sticky, but we want to challenge ourselves. We are going to try various things at various times, and this is one of them. I want to see if there’s a score in front of them, what sort of tactics they come up with. We’ve got two changes — KL and Ashwin rested, Ishan and Chahal in. Lot of new guys in the squad, they want to make their mark.

18:32 (IST)

TOSS: Rohit Sharma wins the toss for a third consecutive time, only this time he opts to bat!

"Spectacular setting, but it’s the dimensions, that’s why so many sixes are hit. Very firm. There might be some grup for bowlers bowling cutters. Outfield’s lightning fast as well. Good pitch. Outfield is damp, and it is going to get progressively worse. Very difficult ground to defend," says Ajit Agarkar, speaking to Deep Dasgupta during the pitch report.

AB has had a massive impact on my career — Harshal

Harshal Patel enjoyed a dream international debut on Friday, taking two wickets for 25 runs to bag the Player of the Match Award in Ranchi as India clinched the three-match series with a seven-wicket win in Ranchi.

Patel later cited South African legend and RCB teammate AB de Villiers — who coincidentally announced his retirement from all formats the same day as his debut — as an inspiration and someone who has had a major impact on his career.

Gambhir bats for Avesh’s inclusion

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has asked for the team management to include Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan in the India XI for the third and final T20I against New Zealand.

“It will suit him, especially the wicket in Kolkata, it's got pace and bounce,” said Gambhir on the conditions at the Eden Gardens.

Chahar, Kishan head to SA

Deepak Chahar and Ishan Kishan, both of whom are part of the India squad for the ongoing series, are scheduled to join the India A team in their tour of South Africa for three four-day games that will give them a chance to contend for spots in the India squad for the Test series in South Africa later this winter.

“Meaningless series,” says McClenaghan

New Zealand and Mumbai Indians left-arm seamer Mitchell McClenaghan might have upset an Indian fan or two by calling the ongoing T20I series ‘meaningless’. McClenaghan, of course, made the remark in jest while replying to a Twitter user, who tried to troll the cricketer over the Black Caps surrendering the series with back-to-back defeats in Jaipur and Ranchi.

In the final game, Rohit and the management could hand a debut to pacer Avesh Khan and give Ruturaj Gaikwad a look in. Yuzvendra Chahal and Ishan Kishan are too looking for an opportunity against the Kiwis. However, India may not make wholesale changes considering they are so close to a series sweep opportunity which will give them an edge going into the Test series.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of the third and final Twenty20 International between India and New Zealand at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with the Men in Blue looking to complete a 3-0 sweep after having already clinched the series in Ranchi.

India vs New Zealand Live Score, Final Cricket Score and Live Streaming, Latest Updates: Adam Milne from the other end.

India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I preview: Captain Rohit Sharma will not waver from his ruthless approach but might try out a few of his reserve players as India aim for a clean sweep against New Zealand in the third and final T20 International in Kolkata on Sunday.

Bilateral T20I series in various parts of the globe is fast losing its context due to too many private leagues but for Indian team, after their World Cup disaster, a series win might help in partially healing the wounds.

For New Zealand, it’s more about completing the assignment after a punishing schedule that will see them play five games (since T20 WC semi-final) in less than two weeks.

The inhuman scheduling means that a 0-3 defeat without services of skipper Kane Williamson will bruise egos but not deflate them as results of bilaterals count very little in the long run.

Having already pocketed the series with a couple of near perfect chases on Jaipur and Ranchi belters, there couldn’t have been a better venue than Eden Gardens for skipper Rohit to end the series on perfect note and also try out some of his reserve bench players.

Live Cricket Score and Live Streaming of India vs New Zealand, Today's Ind vs NZ Today's Match

The first series as full-time T20 captain has gone well for Rohit as he won two tosses, his bowlers put a stranglehold on Black Caps batters during end overs and then as a batter he provided great starts to set the platform.

The script has been flawless so far and before Rohit goes into the break, a 3-0 annihilation of New Zealand in ‘City of Joy’, where he once scored an epic 264 in an ODI, will be like an icing on the cake.

For coach Rahul Dravid, a dominant performance like this will also help him settle the nerves into the new role before the marquee Test series against the same rivals starting in less than a week’s time.

Having already won the series, Rohit and Dravid will now like to maintain a fine balance between winning and also trying out all their available resources to see how each and every individual is placed.
