LSG win, CSK pay

This is the second instance of CSK allowing their opponents to chase down a 210+ target in IPL history. It is the fourth biggest chase in IPL history. Absence of Deepak Chahar, unproven youngsters and dew all played into Lucknow's hands even against a seemingly steep target. KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock provided a perfect launchpad and Evin Lewis with the late flourish. Pity it means Robin Uthappa's knock goes in vain. LSG pick up their first win of the season while CSK are 0-2 after two matches

23:37 (IST)

LSG win by 6 wickets

Lucknow Super Giants chase down the 211 run target with 3 balls to spare and win by 6 wickets over Chennai Super Kings. Evin Lewis remains unbeaten on 55 runs from 23 balls

23:34 (IST)

After two wasteful wides, Badoni slaps this one over backward square for a six. One more to get...

23:32 (IST)

SIX MORE! 25 in the over and Lewis has turned this around. How CSK must be regretting this bowling decision. Played inside out over long and that's a six. It brings up a 23 ball fifty for Lewis

23:31 (IST)

Two in a row now for Lewis and LSG! This one is full of pace, pitched up and in the slot for Lewis to clobber it down the field

23:29 (IST)

Evin Lewis smacks a four after collecting a double on the previous ball. Pitched up, slower one, or lacking pace and it has been thrashed away

23:26 (IST)

Bold move in the CSK camp. Shivam Dube is brought in to bowl the penultimate over and first ball he's thrashed away for a six. Badoni gets down on one knee and has lumped it over square leg. He clobbers a fan in the stands in the process

23:18 (IST)

GONE!

Slower one from Bravo, it is a low full toss and it has been launched into the leg side. Jadeja is a safe pair of hands on the boundary rope as Hooda walks back

Hooda c Jadeja b Bravo 13 (8), LSG are 171/4

23:17 (IST)

SIX!

Now Hooda gets in on the maximum hitting act. Sliced away but there's plenty of pace on the ball to carry it over the sightscreen

23:15 (IST)

SIX!

Evin Lewis smacks it over long off for a powerful and meaty hit! Lewis waited for that one from Pretorious and he's made it count

22:07 (IST)

DROPPED!

That was poor fielding effort from Moeen Ali. Dwayne Bravo got Quinton de Kock to drive, on the up, and it has been let go by Moeen at mid-off. That is routine at this level. How much will CSK have to pay for that?

22:05 (IST)

After 5 overs,Lucknow Super Giants 51/0 ( KL Rahul (C) 18 , Quinton de Kock (W) 28)

LSG are off to a flier in this 211 run chase. De Kock on to 28 (17) and KL Rahul on to 18 (13) as Lucknow move along to 51/0 from 5 overs

21:32 (IST)

Milestone alert

21:23 (IST)

Target: LSG need 211 to win

MS Dhoni finishes it off with a boundary and CSK finish with 210/7 from the 20 overs. Robin Uthappa (50), Shivam Dube (49) and Moeen Ali (35) among the runs. Two wickets each for Avesh, Tye, Bishnoi

21:19 (IST)

GONE!

Pretorious comes in and falls for a golden duck. Appeal for leg before from Tye but umpire turns it down. LSG decide to review. There is no bat on it and it is going to hit leg stump after pitching in line with the stumps

Pretorious lbw Tye 0 (1), CSK are 203/7

21:17 (IST)

GONE!

Jadeja looks to continue to find the boundaries but this time he is holed out in the deep. Flicked off the legs once again, but Pandey completes the catch with ease. Tye strikes

Jadeja c Pandey b Tye 17 (9), CSK are 203/6

21:15 (IST)

LSG vs CSK Live Cricket Score Online: Low full toss from Tye and Jadeja plays it off his pads through backward square. That brings up 200 runs for CSK

21:14 (IST)

LSG vs CSK Live Cricket Score Online: An open faced slice from MS Dhoni this time. Full, outside off, Dhoni opens the face of the bat and carves the region near backward point

21:12 (IST)

LSG vs CSK Live Cricket Score Online: Banged in short by Avesh Khan and MS Dhoni doesn't take time to get going. THRASHED over extra cover and this has gone the distance. Into the stands she goes!

21:10 (IST)

GONE!

Shivam Dube was hitting the ball well and cleanly. He wanted to continue that flow of runs but perishes instead. It goes high but doesn't have the distance to clear the boundary rope. Avesh Khan strikes and Lewis completes the catch. Avesh pats Dube's back as he walks back

Dube c Lewis b Khan 49 (30), CSK are 189/5 from 18.2 overs

21:07 (IST)

LSG vs CSK Live Cricket Score Online: SIX! Dube draws himself closer to the 50-run mark with that six. He rocks back and hoists it over backward square. This has gone towards the 80 metre boundary and cleared it well

21:04 (IST)

LSG vs CSK Live Cricket Score Online: Consecutive boundaries for skipper Ravindra Jadeja. Having collected four off the last ball of the Bishnoi over, he adds four more from this Chameera delivery. Short and perfect timing! Pulled in front of square for a boundary

20:58 (IST)

GONE!

BOWLED! Rayudu got away with a heave on the previous ball, collecting four leg byes, but this time the swipe misses completely. Tries to thrash it to leg side but misses and Bishnoi plucks out the leg stump

Rayudu b Bishnoi 27 (20), CSK are 166/4 from 16.2 overs

20:56 (IST)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Live Score: WHAT. A. HIT. A ball after almost losing his partner, Rayudu darts down and picks the ball up early and thrashes it, absolutely pummels it down the ground. Almost broke the window pane in the commentary booth!

20:54 (IST)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Live Score: DROPPED! Uh-oh! That is a miserable effort from Chameera inside the circle. Full toss from Krunal, could well have been a no ball, Dube pulls it to short backward square and this comes out of the fielder's hands. Very ordinary effort that!

20:52 (IST)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Live Score: Over the wicket and too much width from Krunal to Dube and it has been thrashed in front of square. Avash with a big dive but it doesn't prevent the four

20:49 (IST)

Ambati Rayudu slams it for a six! He comes down the track to a short delivery by Andrew Tye and spanks it over the wide long-on boundary. Tye can only afford a wry smile as the ball clears the fielder at the rope

20:43 (IST)

After 14 overs,Chennai Super Kings 136/3 ( Shivam Dube 30 , Ambati Rayudu 13)

At the end of 14 overs, CSK are 136/3. That early momentum has been lost just a touch but Shivam Dube doing his best to keep things going. He thrashes 12 runs from the Hooda over and 6 runs coming from this one by Krunal

20:38 (IST)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Live Score: THIS IS SENT INTO THE STANDS! Good length delivery and it has been powered through the line and goes into the long-off stand

20:37 (IST)

Dube rocks back and slaps this delivery from Hooda in the deep cover region for a four. A misfield doesn't help!

20:14 (IST)

OUT!

Robin Uthappa is trapped leg before by Ravi Bishnoi and he walks back after a blazing 50 from 27 balls. Bishnoi asks KL Rahul to review this after umpire says not out. The delivery skid across and beat the edge to hit the front leg. Ball tracking says it would have hit middle and leg stump

Uthappa lbw Bishnoi 50, CSK 84/2 after 7.3 overs

20:10 (IST)

FIFTY! Robin Uthappa brings up his 50 from 25 balls. This is his 26th IPL fifty

20:05 (IST)

After 6 overs,Chennai Super Kings 73/1 ( Robin Uthappa 45 , Moeen Ali 21)

At the end of the powerplay overs, CSK are up to 73/1 with Robin Uthappa the chief architect behind majority of the runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad only adding 1 to the scoreboard before perishing. Moeen Ali has joined in and taken Krunal Pandya to the cleaners with 16 runs coming off the sixth over

20:01 (IST)

IPL 2022, LSG vs CSK LIVE Cricket Score: This is brutal stuff from Moeen Ali but not much on offer from Krunal Pandya. Length ball, Moeen waits for it and drags the pull across the line

19:55 (IST)

IPL 2022, LSG vs CSK LIVE Cricket Score: Robin Uthappa continues to deal in boundaries. Andrew Tye offers width on first ball, bowls outside off on the second and middle stump on the fourth. All sent away for boundaries!

19:51 (IST)

IPL 2022, LSG vs CSK LIVE Cricket Score: Avesh Khan bangs it short on the leg stump, Moeen swivels and connects perfectly for a six over fine leg

19:49 (IST)

After 3 overs,Chennai Super Kings 28/1 ( Robin Uthappa 21 , Moeen Ali 0)

Mooen Ali is the new man in for CSK after the dismissal of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The CSK opener looked to take a quick single but paid for the indecision from the other end. Ravi Bishnoi hitting the bullseye! Robin Uthappa is off to a flier at the other end

19:44 (IST)

OUT!

RUN OUT! Ruturaj Gaikwad walks back! Big appeal for leg before, umpire says no. Gaikwad tries to steal a single but he's sent back and is miles out of the crease. Perfect direct hit by Ravi Bishnoi and CSK have the first wicket

Gaikwad run out 1 (4), CSK are 28/1

19:41 (IST)

LSG vs CSK Live Score: Another expensive over comes to an end. 12 runs from it as Uthappa collects four more, coming off the last ball. Flicked once again by Uthappa and this one goes over the square leg umpire

KL Rahul: "Going to bowl first. At the end of the day we need to play good cricket as well. But have been watching the last few games, ball gets wet towards the end. Also this looks like a fresh wicket with some grass on it. Enjoyed the last game that we played. Boys showed good fight. Showed real character. Was pleasing for us and will take confidence from that. One change - Tye comes in, Mohsin misses out."

Ravindra Jadeja: "Would've bowled first too. Now we're batting so will look to put up a decent score. Blessed with a huge fan following. Three changes - Moeen is back, Milne has a sidestrain so going with three overseas."

TOSS!

Lucknow Super Giants' KL Rahul wins the toss and he has decided to field against Chennai Super Kings

18:58 (IST)

Pitch report

Graeme Swann with the pitch report: "What we saw in the first match here was a bit of extra bounce troubling the batters. That's something the bowlers will look into. Wickets came off short-pitched bowling. This pitch has had a bit of water put on it since the other day. It's definitely greener. Reckon it's not quite as hard. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a good batting wicket, but the seamers but just get a little bit if they pitch it up, might just nibble off a length"

Preview: South Africa take on England in the second semi-finals of the Women's Cricket World Cup 2022. The winner of the match will face Australia in the final.

South Africa’s shot at redemption comes after missing out on a place in the 2017 final in a heartbreaking defeat to England.

England chased down 219 with two balls to spare as Anya Shrubsole set up her final heroics by striking the winning four, going on to take six for 46 against India at Lord’s to hand England their fourth title.

The defending champions have been involved in more tight encounters this time, losing their first three games by narrow margins to put them in a knockout mindset from the fourth group match.

Having come through to the semi-finals, they face a stern test in South Africa whose only defeat came to Australia and have shown that the mental fragility that cost them in previous ODI and T20 World Cup semi-finals is a thing of the past.

South Africa beat England by three wickets in the league stage as Marizanne Kapp put in a starring performance with both bat and ball, taking five for 45 in what marked the tournament's best figures so far.

Since that defeat, England have won every game as their road to redemption continues, and while their top order batters have failed to click at the same time, their spinners are saving the day.

Sophie Ecclestone is the top wicket-taker so far in her first ODI World Cup, having taken 14 wickets, while Charlie Dean is not far behind with 10 having only made her World Cup debut in the match against South Africa.

Despite her wicket-taking exploits, Ecclestone has competition for the best 22-year-old at the tournament with South Africa opener Wolvaardt leading the run-scoring charts.

Wolvaardt is still searching for a first World Cup century but has piled on 433 runs at an average of 61.85, with only Australia’s Beth Mooney boasting a better average.

IPL 2022 has in store new teams, changed squad line-ups and a different format. But that will not necessarily impact the point system.

This year the format is going to be a little different, wherein the 10 teams will be split into two groups - Group A and B.

In Match 6 of IPL 2022 on Wednesday, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kolkata Knight Riders to register first win of the tournament. They moved to 6th with that victory.

Royals win!

Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs and become the first team this season to defend a total. RR 210/6 beat SRH 149/7 (Markram 57*, Sundar 40; Chahal 3/22, Krishna 2/16, Boult 2/23) by 61 runs

23:11 (IST)

FIFTY!

Aiden Markram brings up his 50 from 39 balls but it hasn't been effective enough to change the outcome of the game or even bring it close

23:05 (IST)

GONE!

Sundar looks to continue the big hitting and six getting but finds Hetmyer at long on this time. Brilliant cameo from Sundar to salvage some respect for the SRH and avoid a dreadful NRR from the word go. He goes for 40 and SRH are 133/7

23:00 (IST)

After 18 overs,Sunrisers Hyderabad 119/6 ( Aiden Markram 44 , Washington Sundar 29)

24 runs and 14 runs from the last two overs and SRH gaining some respectibility with the target well out of sight. Markram on 44 from 36 balls and Sundar on 29 from 10 balls

22:46 (IST)

GONE!

Chahal strikes and that is his 250th T20 wicket. Shepherd walks across, looks to sweep and misses to be bowled. Quicker ball from Chahal there and Shepherd misses the line completely

Shepherd b Chahal 24 (18), SRH 78/6

22:42 (IST)

SIX! SIX!

Back-to-back sixes for SRH now and it comes from Shepherd's bat. First six of the innings is followed by a second as Coulter-Nile is taken apart. Near replicas both sixes - pulled on both and clearing the boundary line on both

22:27 (IST)

GONE!

Abdul Samad comes down the track to Chahal, looks to heave and Parag at deep mid-wicket completes the easy catch. Five down and the nightmare continues for SRH

Samad c Parag b Chahal 4 (6), SRH are 37/5

22:22 (IST)

After 9 overs,Sunrisers Hyderabad 32/4 ( Aiden Markram 13 , Abdul Samad 2)

Abhishek Sharma joins Williamson, Tripathi and Pooran in the dugout. Chahal gets his first wicket in the very first over. Just 9 from Sharma and SRH are 32/4 from 9 overs

22:17 (IST)

GONE!

Yuzvendra Chahal strikes in the very first over. Abhishek Sharma tries to up the ante but doesn't clear the field as he would have liked. Gets too close to the ball, miscues the loft and finds Hetmyer at long-on

Abhishek Sharma c Hetmyer b Chahal 9 (19), SRH 29/4

22:15 (IST)

Full toss from Ashwin and Abhishek Sharma slams it past the bowler. Riyan Parag tries his best to cut it out but fails in the end

22:11 (IST)

Finally a boundary from a SRH batter that looks convincing. Markram pulls a delivery from outside off over the fielder at mid-wicket

22:06 (IST)

After 6 overs,Sunrisers Hyderabad 14/3 ( Abhishek Sharma 3 , Aiden Markram 4)

At the powerplay mark, SRH are 14/3 and have failed miserably to make the field restrictions count. Williamson, Tripathi and Pooran all are back in the dugout. Markram and Abhishek in the middle

22:04 (IST)

First boundary from the bat for Sunrisers and it comes off Markram's bat. Boult has his hands on the head. Markram pushes with hard hands and the inside edge goes away to deep square leg for a four

22:01 (IST)

GONE!

Nicholas Pooran is gone for a duck! Plumb! Trent Boult looked close to getting a wicket and he finally gets one. Full, angled in, Pooran misses the flick and is caught leg before. Discusses with his partner Abhishek Sharma and decides against reviewing. Wise decision that but this is going dreadfully for the Sunrisers Hyderabad

Pooran lbw Boult 0 (9)

21:56 (IST)

After 4 overs,Sunrisers Hyderabad 7/2 ( Abhishek Sharma 1 , Nicholas Pooran (W) 0)

Horrendous start for SRH. Kane Williamson and Rahul Tripathi back in the dugout. Runs not flowing for the Hyderabad batters with Prasidh Krishna picking two wickets in two overs. The second over bringing out six dots for a maiden

21:52 (IST)

GONE!

Prasidh Krishna gets his second wicket and that's poor batting from Rahul Tripathi. Short of length, outside off, the ball moves away slightly and Tripathi is beaten for pace and bounce. Samson with the simple take behind

Tripathi 0 (3)

21:50 (IST)

First boundary of the chase comes as leg bye. Veering down the leg stump, Abhishek Sharma gets the thigh on it and the ball goes on towards fine leg

21:44 (IST)

GONE!

Is that gone? Kane Williamson edges it behind. There's no question about that. Dropped by Sanju Samson, Padikkal latches on at first slip. But is that taken on the bounce? Umpires convene and send it upstairs. Third man decides it is taken cleanly. Commentator, however, thinks there's a bounce on it. Prasidh Krishna strikes!

Williamson c Padikkal b Krishna 2 (7)

21:37 (IST)

SRH chase begins

Williamson, Abhishek Sharma open the innings for SRH. Trent Boult with the ball. GO!

21:22 (IST)

After 20 overs,Rajasthan Royals 210/6 ( Nathan Coulter-Nile 1)

Rajasthan Royals finish on 210/6 from 20 overs. 7 runs from the final over. T Natarajan closes with 2/43. Samson (55), Padikkal (41), Buttler (35) and Hetmyer (33) among the runs

21:18 (IST)

BOWLED!

Full from T Natarajan and the slog doesn't come out this time from Hetmyer. The ball dips in late and takes the leg stump.

Hetmyer b Natarajan 32 (13)

21:17 (IST)

T Natarajan with the final over. Hetmyer steps across the off side and scoops the delivery on leg stump for a four.

21:16 (IST)

BELTING THE BALL!

21:15 (IST)

Hip-high short ball from Bhuvi now, it is outside off and Hetmyer reads the slower one well. Waits for it and sends it flat to the left of long-on

21:14 (IST)

Short and outside off from Bhuvi, Hetmyer doesn't middle it but has enough power on it to clear the short straight boundary

21:12 (IST)

After 18 overs,Rajasthan Royals 188/4 ( Shimron Hetmyer 15 , Riyan Parag 10)

Rajasthan on course for a 210-ish score. Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag both hitting the ball well and the bowlers have very little purchase from the surface

21:11 (IST)

Misfield from Washington Sundar and that is four more to the RR score. Unlucky for Sundar though, there was a bad bounce as he slid across to cut it out

21:09 (IST)

SIX! Raw power from Hetmyer to thrash this away for a maximum! Attempted yorker, Hetmyer gets down on one knee and takes it low for a six towards long-on

21:07 (IST)

Attempted yorker by T Natarajan, Parag converts it into a low full toss and splits the gap between mid-wicket and long-on

21:05 (IST)

SRH review

Bhuvi beats Riyan Parag and the SRH bowler is convinced there's something on that. A second review for SRH in this over and there's nothing on it. No bat, no pad and it is going over the stumps. SRH lose both their reviews

21:03 (IST)

STAT ALERT

21:01 (IST)

GONE!

Sanju Samson departs with Bhuvneshwar Kumar getting his first wicket of the season! Samad takes a smart catch after running across from long-on. Samson has little room on a back of length delivery, looks for the boundary but unable to clear the boundary

Samson c Samad b Bhuvi 55 (28)

20:57 (IST)

SIX, FIFTY FOR SAMSON

Sanju Samson brings up his fifty from 25 balls. Talk about playing a captain's knock. Darted in flat and short by Sundar and it is dispatched with disdain. Pulled over mid-wicket for a six. Samson doesn't even bother checking the outcome, he raises his bat to acknowledge the applause.

20:55 (IST)

Slowed down by Washington Sundar, tossed up on the off stump and this is swiped over mid-wicket for a six

20:52 (IST)

After 15 overs,Rajasthan Royals 148/3 ( Sanju Samson (C) (W) 42 , )

Umran Malik ends his quota of overs with a wicket of Devdutt Padikkal. The leftie beaten for pace by the seamer and that is the end of a brilliant 73-run partnership. SRH needed a wicket, desperately, and Malik provides it

20:51 (IST)

GONE!

Umran Malik has his second wicket and Devutt Padikkal is bowled! Length delivery, Padikkal is beaten for peace. He seemingly tried to steer it down towards third man but is castled instead. End of the allotted overs for Malik (4-0-39-2) who started poorly but finishes with a wicket

Padikkal b Malik 41 (29)

20:47 (IST)

Sanju Samson joins in the boundary-hitting business. Too full, on the pads, and it is whipped away to the mid-wicket boundary

20:46 (IST)

Flurry of boundaries continue from the bat of Devdutt Padikkal. Umran Malik the unlucky bowler this time. Short ball outside off, Padikkal pulls to the mid-wicket fence

20:44 (IST)

Slower one, on the pads, Padikkal waits for it and uses his wrists perfectly to whip it past short fine leg

20:43 (IST)

Two boundaries in a row! Pitched up in the slot and lofted towards long on for a six. Padikkal holds the pose as the ball comfortably clears the rope

20:41 (IST)

Padikkal slaps it and slaps it well to beat the fielder at mid-on. It brings up the fifty partnership from 33 balls

20:35 (IST)

After 12 overs,Rajasthan Royals 114/2 ( Sanju Samson (C) (W) 37 , Devdutt Padikkal 16)

After 12 overs, Rajasthan Royals are 114/2 with Sanju Samson on 37 and Devdutt Padikkal. This partnership up to 39 from 23 balls. Samson the crucial wicket for SRH now

20:34 (IST)

Cracker of a shot! Full length delivery from T Natarajan and Padikkal connects beautifully to send the ball towards the vacant long off boundary

20:31 (IST)

THRASHED AWAY FOR A SIX! T Natarajan comes into the attack, back of a length delivery and Padikkal pulls towards mid-wicket for a six!

20:29 (IST)

Is that a six or a four? Four gestures the RR player in the dugout. Short, there is room and Samson plays it away for a reverse sweep and the ball runs away to the third man rope

20:26 (IST)

Too short from Washington Sundar and that is punished. 65th six of IPL 2022. Just a touch short, outside off and Samson plunders it down the ground for a HUGE six

20:23 (IST)

Harsha Bhogle praises Umran Malik

20:22 (IST)

Short and pulled away for a six! Sanju Samson makes the most of poor line from Shepherd. He sends it towards long leg for a six!

20:20 (IST)

After 9 overs,Rajasthan Royals 78/2 ( Sanju Samson (C) (W) 16 , Devdutt Padikkal 2)

Rajasthan Royals move along to 78/2 after nine overs. Sanju Samson has made a bright start and is up to 16 from 10 balls. Devdutt Padikkal is alongside him. Openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the dugout

20:15 (IST)

Appeal, given not out, reviewed, GONE!

Umran Malik back into the attack. Pooran and Malik are very confident of a caught behind on Buttler. Umpire Bruce Oxenford is not convinced. Kane Williamson goes upstairs for the review. And there is a spike on UltraEdge. Buttler walks!

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals, Tata IPL 2022, SRH vs RR 5th IPL Match: Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs and become the first team to defend a total this season. The eventual margin could have been bigger but for late flourish from Markram and Sundar

Preview: With a number of match-winners at their disposal, Rajasthan Royals will lock horns with a new and refurbished Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the sides will start their campaign in Pune in an IPL clash on Tuesday.

Rajasthan Royals had a very busy mega auctions and their batting will rotate around captain Sanju Samson as well as Jos Buttler. In the auctions, they also lapped up young Indian players Devdutt Padikkal who can be a match-winner on his day.

Royals have also snapped up power-hitters in Shimron Hetmyer, Rassie Van der Dussen, Jimmy Neesham and Riyan Parag in the middle order and this should give them a lot of depth.

As far as the bowling is concerned, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal will form a potent spinning combination. They will also be complemented with the likes of Prasidh Krishna, Trent Boult taking up the mantle with the new ball.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, will need all the experience of captain Kane Williamson who is the best batter in the side. Apart from him, his compatriot Glenn Phillips could well slot at the top of the batting order. There are also Nicholas Pooran, Priyam Garg and Rahul Tripathi who could take up the responsibility in the middle order. Abdul Samad, who was retained ahead of the mega auctions, can take up the role in the middle order.

The bowling attack will be led by pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and he will be given company by Umran Malik. They have also added Marco Jansen, who has been quite good for South Africa over the last six months.

Washington Sundar, is making a comeback along with T Natarajan and as far as the spinners are concerned, they have options in Shreyas Gopal or J Suchith.

IPL 2022 has in store new teams, changed squad line-ups and a different format. But that will not necessarily impact the point system.

This year the format is going to be a little different, wherein the 10 teams will be split into two groups - Group A and B.

IPL Trophy during day one of Indian Premier League Player Auction 2022. Image: Sportzpics for IPL

Group A - Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants

Group B - Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans

Now, within the groups, each team will play each other twice, as well as twice against the team in the same row from the other group.  Then each team from every group will play against all the other teams in the other group once. That brings it to a total of 14 (8 + 5 + 1) matches for all teams.

In Match 4 of IPL 2022 on Monday, Tewatia's heroics led Gujarat Titans (GT) to their maiden IPL victory as they beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets. With that win, Hardik Pandya and Co find themselves in fourth place with two points.

Here's the list of current Orange and Purple Cap holders:

Orange Cap holder: Faf du Plessis (RCB) - 88 runs

Purple Cap holder: Dwayne Bravo, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Basil Thampi  - 3 wickets each

Here's the latest updated IPL 2022 league table:

Day 3 Lunch report: England claimed three wickets after a bright West Indies start as the home side stuttered to 71 for three in reply to the tourists' first innings total of 204 at lunch on the second day of the third and final Test on Friday.

A bright opening partnership of exactly 50 saw the hosts in the early ascendancy but the complexion of the morning changed dramatically with the dismissal of Kraigg Brathwaite by Ben Stokes in the second hour.

That was followed by the demise of new batsman Shamarh Brooks to Saqib Mahmood.

Joe Root (L) of England and Kraigg Brathwaite (R) of West Indies pose with the trophy during the 1st day of the 1st Test between England and West Indies. AFP

When the other opener John Campbell, who had survived a torrid examination from Craig Overton, fell to the same bowler just before the interval, England were in much better heart than midway through the session when the openers looked very comfortable on a pitch expected to encourage the faster bowlers.

Brathwaite, a virtual immovable object in the previous match in Barbados where he faced more deliveries than ever before by a West Indies batsman in Test cricket, looked in similar mood as Campbell did most of the scoring at the other end in bringing up the half-century stand.

But it took a delivery from Stokes which barely got off the ground to remove him as he was trapped plumb leg-before for 17 off 56 deliveries.

Brooks looked comfortable in his early moments at the crease, stroking two boundaries before he also became an lbw victim, Mahmood getting a delivery to skid through on the right-hander to send him on his way for 13.

Campbell found Overton to be his greatest challenge, eventually succumbing to the pacer.

Twice the left-hander was struck on the helmet and though he resumed his innings both times, he never looked settled against the continued hostility of his opponent, eventually gloving another lifting delivery on the body down the leg-side for wicketkeeper Ben Foakes to take the catch and end his effort on 35.

Nkrumah Bonner and Jermaine Blackwood will be the pairing to resume the contest for the West Indies after lunch with England keen for their faster bowlers to continue to exploit a helpful surface in defence of a modest first innings total.

New Delhi: Indian Premier League side Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was quick to express his displeasure on Twitter after a social media post from his side's account showed him in a way he did not like.

In a now-deleted post, the Royals' Twitter handle had an edited picture of Samson sitting in the team bus with sunglasses and a towel wrapped on his head. It had a caption "Kya khoob lagte ho" with a laughing emoji.

But, the post did not go down well with Samson, who took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

"Its ok for friends to do all this but teams should be professional...rajasthanroyals," wrote Samson in response.

It has been reported by news agency PTI that RR have sacked their social media team after the incident took place.

Royals later made an official Twitter announcement that it will re-look at its digital strategy and appoint a new social media team soon.

"In light of today's events, we will be making changes to our approach and team on social media. Everything is well within the squad ahead of the first game as the boys prepare for SRH," the RR said on its official Twitter handle.

"The management will revisit our overall digital strategy and appoint a new team in due course.

"We realise that it is the IPL season and fans want the account to post updates regularly. We will find temporary solutions in the interim," the statement read.

Royals start their IPL campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 29 March at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Preview: With New Zealand very unlikely to reach the semi-finals, captain Sophie Devine is focusing on leading her side to a strong finish in front of capacity crowds.

The White Ferns take on Pakistan in Christchurch tomorrow in the first game with 100 percent attendance permitted and Devine is looking to bow out of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 on a high.

The hosts currently sit in sixth with four points and would need big wins for Bangladesh against England and South Africa against India as well as one of their own against Pakistan to take qualification down to net run rate and stand any chance of making the knockout stages.

“I think we've got to be realistic about it,” Devine said. “I don't know the exact numbers, but we do know that this is likely our final game here and that's how we want to play it.

“Bob (Carter, head coach) mentioned it in training earlier today that tomorrow will be our final, it's obviously not the final that we thought we would be playing in.

“But we've still got so much passion and pride that we want to make sure that we go out tomorrow and really put on a performance that we're certainly proud of but also all our friends and family and the rest in New Zealand are hopefully really proud of as well.”

New Zealand Women vs Bangladesh Women live score and Cricket Score of Women's World Cup Match

The White Ferns will be without Lea Tahuhu, their leading wicket-taker in this World Cup, who has failed to recover from a hamstring injury sustained in the loss to England.

Tahuhu will miss out on playing in a World Cup on her home ground, but the Christchurch native will be cheering on from the bench.

Devine added: “It's always tough to miss out when you get the opportunity to play at home. She told me yesterday that she doesn't have a great track record playing games for the New Zealand side here at Hagley [Oval].

“She pulled up lame a couple of years ago with another hamstring injury, so I think she's only ever completed two out of four games, so maybe it's a good sign that she's sitting this one out.

“But we'll certainly miss her experience. I think she's been fantastic with the ball this competition and we'll certainly miss her leading that pace attack.

“But she'll be supporting from the sidelines. She's certainly really hopeful that we're going to have a full crowd in to support the White Ferns.”

While New Zealand have home advantage at Hagley Oval, Pakistan will also be in familiar surroundings having played England on the same ground two days earlier.

Pakistan sit bottom of the table with one win from their six games but are aiming to improve upon their nine-wicket loss to the holders.

Captain Bismah Maroof said: “I think we know the conditions now and especially in batting how we can apply ourselves more

“And in bowling, we know these are likely for the fast bowlers, so we’ll plan better for the New Zealand match.”

Pakistan have struggled with the bat during the tournament with the usually dependable Aliya Riaz out of form having made just 73 runs in five innings.

However, Bismah is reluctant to put pressure on the right-hander who was named Pakistan’s Women’s Cricketer of the Year after a strong showing at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020.

“She is the kind of player we don't want to pressure, and we just want her to apply herself, because we know that if we give her too much information then she will not be able to play,” the skipper added.

“So, we have given her a free space so that she can apply herself, but definitely she hasn’t had a good tournament.

“But she has also realised that, and I hope that she can continue whatever contribution she has done in the last year and perform for the team.”

Preview: Jess Jonassen admits Australia are still searching for a perfect game despite boasting an unbeaten record and qualifying for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 semi-finals with two games to spare.

The world’s No 1-ranked side have racked up six wins on the spin and will be hoping for a clean sweep in the group stages when they take on Bangladesh in Wellington at 11am local time tomorrow.

Bangladesh have earned one win in their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup campaign but after pushing South Africa and West Indies all the way, spinner Jonassen knows her team will need to be at their best to extend their red-hot streak.

“It's something that we've identified throughout the whole tournament so far and now we're building towards this business end of the tournament, we’re still looking for the perfect game,” said Jonassen, 29.

“But ultimately, we're just looking to improve each and every game in different areas - and we do have a bit to improve on still with the ball.

“Obviously against South Africa, we weren't able to take wickets up front, but we were able to hold them and are just needing to tighten up in a few areas, which I think is really exciting considering we've gone through undefeated whilst still identifying areas that we can improve on.”

Australia will face Bangladesh for the first time in ODIs but Jonassen has been watching intently as the Tigresses have made their way through the tournament.

She added: “It's really exciting. It's exciting for them to be a part of their first 50-over World Cup and I mean, for me personally, I'm a bit of a cricket snuff, so I've been watching almost every game of the World Cup and I've taken a bit from that.

“We have different small group planning meetings, based on our specialty within the squad and so we use that as some information-gathering and information-sharing as well.

“I think 50-over cricket, it allows you to adapt on the run a little bit as well and it's not like the T20 game where it's almost been and gone before you can blink.
“It's going to be an exciting challenge and something that we're really looking forward to tomorrow.”

While Australia have vowed to play their best side in each match, they will be without stalwart Ellyse Perry after she left the field with a back injury in the win over South Africa.

Kate Beerworth, Australia team physiotherapist, said: “Ellyse came off the field with a back spasm, but it is settling down with treatment.

“She won’t play tomorrow but we expect that she will be available for the semi-final.”

For Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana, Perry’s absence will mean one fewer dangerous bowler her side have to worry about.

Nigar has admitted her team have not been at their best with the bat, something they will hope to turn around if they are to end their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup bow on a high.

She said: “Our bowling unit is doing very well, so what we will do and what we need to work the most on is to fix our batting unit, it has become very important.

“It turns out that our bowlers tried to restrict the opponents to a decent score in all the last matches we played but somehow we couldn't support them with our batting unit because the top order collapsed.

“So, those scores were not achievable, or at least we could have gone even closer to those matches. Now we have discussed among ourselves how we can play or plan so that our batting unit can come back on track.

“Now every one of us expects the batting to bounce back. Of course, Australia are the strongest team and so far they are in a very good position in the tournament.
“But still, I think that if we can do well in both units - we can fight them very well.”

2nd ODI report: South Africa hit back with a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh on Sunday to level the one-day series 1-1 and take it to a decisive final game.

South Africa controlled the second ODI from the moment it had Bangladesh 34-5 in the 13th over and although the tourists recovered well to post 194-9, the Proteas got home with ease.

South Africa reached 195-3 in the 38th over with half-centuries from the returning Quinton de Kock (62 off 41 balls) and Kyle Verreynne (58 not out off 77).

The victory eased the pressure on the home team after Bangladesh clinched a surprise win in the first game, its first victory over South Africa in an ODI in South Africa.

South Africa's batters confirmed a victory that was set up by the bowlers at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 5-39, including three of those five early wickets to leave Bangladesh in a deep hole.

Afif Hossain's fighting 72 under extreme pressure lifted Bangladesh to a reasonable score.

He hit nine fours and defied the South African attack, and was part of half-century partnerships with Mahmudullah (25) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (38).

South Africa's early progress was interrupted when it lost bowler Wayne Parnell to a leg injury in just his third over, forcing captain Temba Bavuma to fill in as an extra bowler.

But de Kock put South Africa on course for the win with a rapid half-century in the chase after returning to the lineup having missed the opening game with illness. The left-hander launched nine fours and two sixes and South Africa didn't lose that early momentum.

Verreynne saw it home after an 82-run stand with Bavuma, who made 37.

The series decider is back at Centurion, where Bangladesh won the first game, on Wednesday.

Preview: England will be visualising what a final could be like when they take on Pakistan in Christchurch on Thursday, according to Surrey's Sophia Dunkley.

Hagley Oval will host one of the semi-finals as well as the showpiece next week but will first welcome England and Pakistan for the first group game to be played in Christchurch.

The defending champions have faced plenty of close matches during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022, coming out on the winning side in each of their last two nail-biting encounters. Image: ICC Media

Before England can attempt to reach the final, they must win their remaining two group games but can call on their knowledge of beating New Zealand on the same ground last year.

“We love it here at Christchurch,” Dunkley said. “We played here a year ago and it's a great ground. The pitch looks nice and the nets were really good as well.

“I think being here and looking at the outfield and everything, it'd be great to be here in a week and a half’s time and it’s nice to visualise that as well. It’s definitely really good motivation for that.”

The defending champions have faced plenty of close matches during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022, coming out on the winning side in each of their last two nail-biting encounters. Both have been must-win and the Pakistan tie is no different.

“The last two games were almost like semi-finals in themselves for us because, had we lost, it would have put us in a terrible position,” the right-hander explained.

“I think having those experiences and those feelings will be great and hopefully, we can get a couple more wins that aren't as nerve-wracking or aren’t as close, but it is good to have that experience for sure.”

England face a Pakistan side fresh from their first World Cup victory in 13 years after defeating the West Indies by eight wickets.

And Dunkley is well aware of the threats they will pose, particularly with spin.

She said: “They played really well the other day and beat West Indies really well, so they've got a lot of good players in that team.

“It is a game we obviously need to win. We're going to be looking out for them and making sure we can combat that.

“The other day against the West Indies, Pakistan's bowling attack was really good. They have got a lot of good spin in their attack and we know that there's going to be a lot of spin coming our way.

“It's just about playing that the best we can with the bat and putting in a good performance against them. They've obviously come up with a great win so it will be challenging, I'm sure.”

Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof is hoping their momentous victory will not be a one-off as her side look to produce another strong performance against the defending champions.

She said: “First I felt a sigh of relief, we were under pressure and it's good to have a win.

“We just need to get this momentum forward and we're looking forward to the two matches, starting with tomorrow.

“They are a good side, we know they have many good players who can win matches for them.

“We just need to stick to our basics. We're planning to play to our strengths and what potential we have to stay in the process and then see what the result will be tomorrow.”
